About us

If anybody had said 10 years ago that we would live in a small mountain village 100 kms far from Budapest and cook different kind of preserves in huge cauldrons, I would have surely smiled at it. As we have always lived in the capital, this possibility never came up among our plans. After an accidental excursion to Nagybörzsöny we fell in love with the countryside and a 120-year old cottage. Today it is our home, we live and work here and do not wish to go back to Budapest at all.

Producing preserves was the result of a sudden idea. At the beginning we started to rent rooms and a lot of our guests would have liked to take home something local as a present or souvenir. As Nagybörzsöny is famous for its berry production, first we tried currants and raspberry. When finished, our jams were dressed up with a unique, hand-written label, which proved to be a real success. All of our jams were sold and we started to get orders from the friends of our friends.

Those who tasted our products strengthened our reputation. Our small pans were changed for bigger ones. Nowadays we cook our preserves in 80-litre cauldrons and our imagination started to fly. Almost any kind of fruit can be prepared as preserve from forest fruits to tropical ones. Except for tropical fruits and cranberries, all of the fruits originate from Hungarian producers, and we try to buy everything nearby.

The process is exclusively hand made from stoning to decorating. With a traditional method our products are cooked in cauldrons on fire. Not just our preserves but also our syrups are popular. To keep their characteristic value we prepare our syrups with cold treatment except for linden and dandelion.

We use only minimal amount of preservatives. Our freshest products are the dips which are highly recommended for breakfast, dinner or for parties. We like to intoxicate our preserves with different kind of alcohols (spirit, white rum, vodka, brandy, white and red wine). You do not have to worry about their alcohol content, since due to the heat it gets lost and only the flavour remains. Special flavourings and supplements (vanilla, honey, chocolate, ginger, coconut, cinnamon, walnut, etc.) are widely used, and the result is a more piquant harmony of flavours.

We constantly expand the palette of our products, which include 80 kinds of different preserves at the moment, but we always have new ideas and our imagination flies among the variety of fruits. Many people ask about our secret. We can only mention the great amount of work, a little bit of imagination, creativity and the most important, the loving of our occupation which lies behind. We have never learnt jam making, our preserves are prepared according to our own recipes. You can come and taste our products in Nagybörzsöny and you can also buy them if you like.
